We recognise parents are the first educators of all children. We know that, if parents and keyworkers work in partnership and share their expertise and knowledge, children will always benefit. At our parent evenings, we share information with parents about children's progress. We are happy to arrange individual meetings with parents at any other time during the year as the need arises.
We encourage parents to become as involved in the nursery life as they can. We welcome parents to come and help during the day, and appreciate this. We also hold parent update meetings every term to discuss workshops, upcoming events and answer any concerns or questions parents may have.
Brief informal contact between keyworkers and parents takes place at the beginning and end of each session. Parents who would like a longer talk with a keyworker are encouraged to make an appointment.
At the end of each term, parents are given a detailed report on their child's progress. Parents are invited at the same time to record their own comments on the report.
Home Nursery Agreement
The Home Nursery Agreement is there to ensure that families and the nursery are working together to support children's learning and development in the best possible way.
If you do accept a place at Little Engineers Nursery you will be required to sign the Home-Nursery Agreement. This is designed to clarify what the nursery expects of parents and what parents may expect of the nursery. It is intended to encourage good relationships between parents and the nursery.
Meet the keyworker
During the induction of your child, you will meet your child's assigned keyworker. They will ask questions about your child such as what your child likes and dislikes, how long they sleep for and how they sleep, what their eating habits are like, whether they speak more than one language, and many other questions. This will allow your keyworker to have more of an understanding of your child.
Three times a year we have opportunities for you to meet your child's keyworker to talk about your child on a one-to-one basis. During the first term of each year, there are meetings at which you can talk to the keyworker about your child and how they have settled into the nursery. This is then followed up by a further individual meeting in the Spring term, with a chance to look at work and the progress your child has made so far. The last meeting is in the Summer term to discuss their report, where you will be able to review your child's progress and voice any concerns or comments you have about your child and their time at the nursery.
Notices and Communication
There is a noticeboard in the reception area which displays events and notices.
We also have available an app called Famly where we can send and receive messages from parents, we can post what the children have been doing each week with pictures, upcoming events, invoices and payments.
We send out newsletters monthly and regularly communicate via email.
