Little Engineers Nursery

Fun-tastic February!

This month has been bustling with activity! Children have been engaging in hands-on activities like painting with brushes to refine their fine motor skills, while also enjoying imaginative play in various costumes within our home corner.

We've emphasized turn-taking and sharing, accompanied by readings from the Handa Surprise book and exploration of seven different fruits, encouraging sensory engagement with their scents, textures, and colors. From pineapples to passion fruits, the children not only explored these fruits but also crafted and enjoyed fruit kebabs they made themselves.

Our week has been rich with learning experiences, from celebrating Pancake Day and Valentine’s Day to engaging in sand play, exploring colors (with red being the focus this week), and delving into numbers, shapes, and sensory play. In addition, the children have been actively involved in outdoor activities, honing both fine and gross motor skills.

Mark making with sponges and letter stamps, along with the excitement of making playdough from scratch, added a creative touch to our week. Further development of fine motor skills was encouraged through cutting exercises, with the children demonstrating great understanding and participation.

As the month wrapped up, the children explored the color yellow through various activities, including playing with yellow playdough and pasta, and threading them onto spaghetti. Outdoor fun continued despite the weather fluctuations, with sand play and grass rolling being particular favorites.

St. David's Day was celebrated with enthusiasm, featuring activities centered around daffodils, from sensory experiences to planting and baking daffodil-shaped biscuits for the children to take home.

What a fulfilling week it has been! We're eagerly looking forward to March, brimming with new focuses and plenty more fun-filled adventures.
